now its 3 in a bed (and poor DH on the sofa) - WWYD?

So poor DD2 (1) has a rotten cough that is waking her up repeatedly at night. For the last week or so I've been bringing her into bed at night, as she settles with me after a coughing fit when she won't in her cot.

This was okay if a bit sleep depriving, but now DD1 (2.5, they share a room) has begun waking up with nightmares. The last 3 nights I've brought her in too, because it seems unfair to make her tough it out in her cot when DD2 is already in the parental bed. Plus I don't trust DD2 to stay put on my bed for the length of time it would take to resettle DD1.

Me sandwiched by 2 squirmy babies is not my ideal night and I'm starting to feel like I'm hallucinating during the day. I'm working full time, so its not like I can catch up then.

DH is on the sofa, which he's okay with. He can't really help at night during the week as he's particularly busy at work at the mo, and I'm not. He's already doing the evenings with them to give me a break then.

Moving into mummy's bed late at night is obviously starting to turn into a habit, but I don't know what to do to sort it out? DD2's cough is pretty full on, she's seen the doc and he says its viral and could run 1-3 weeks. He's suggested cough and cold meds with a sedative effect - but they are not much help really. DD1's nightmares are part real, part her being on her own in her room. Do I try and insist she stays in bed? Do I try and keep DD2 in her cot despite the constant wakings? Or just tough it out with us all in my bed, drink lots of coffee during the day and try and fix it once the cough is gone?

WWYD??

Could DH sleep in the room with DD1 to deal with the 'part her being on her own in her room'?

Good idea but there's no room.. He'd have to sleep in DD2's cot and I don't think he'd fit!

have you tried a humidifer for dds room? Ds has a persistant cough and brochilitis over a period of 6wks. Someone suggested a humidfier and he slept straight through the 1st night we used it. You can get one form argos for about £25 its the best investment I made!

Hmmm I know someone I can borrow one from.. Thanks AuntyJ for that..
