put layers of towels and sheets (do you hae any cot sheets?) under where he sleeps. When he is sick in the night just whip off the top layer, and you will still have layers under him.

Hopefully

towels on the bed under head and anywhere likely to vomit (like wrap round top edge of duvet). Whip them off quickly when hes sick and you should avoid more sheet changes....It's not infallible but it does reduce sheet changes particulaery when baby is sick the third/ 4th/ 5th time and there's not much left. good luck - hope it isn't norovirus else you'll all have it (sorry) I have particularly horrible memories of handing a vomiting baby to my just finished vomiting husband so i could go and throw myself...

Make sure he is well hydrated - continue breastfeeding if you are breastfeeding - and make sure he still has plenty of wet nappies. Keep an eye on his temperature and give him calpol if necessary.

he is no longer breast feeding that should be ok. he is a bit of a bottle addict so looks like a long night and we might actually break that habit.

i have a few big poeces of fleece left over from nappy making so am currently putting these on the bed. then digging thru fabric pile looking for my brushed cotton cot sheeting as well.

DS is very happy at staying up late and is currently poking my belly button as i have not put on any thing else after taking off vomity clothes

Sorry for yuo!

Was just about to post that make sure you hae plenty of nappies and wipes by the bed in case it starts coming out the other end. And to also make sure that the coering on the bed goes down far enough in case it leaks out of his nappy in the night. And changes of PJs.

If more is likely to follow I cut open a bin bag and cover mattress then layer on towels.

I also use pampers care mats under the sheets for accidents, DS was a late leaker and vinyl sheets were too sweaty.

Much sympathy for you here x x x
My DD was / is a co-sleeper (now part-time) so when she was ill we both slept on the sofa bed. Made it much less stressful for me to be able to do whatever was needed without disturbing and having to co-ordinate DH.

At least with a little one their tummies seem to empty much quicker than an adult's, so the vomiting should tail off through the night, if you can get some rest.

Good luck x x x

How is he today?

moocowme · 26/11/2008 18:30

much better. at 1am he wailed until he got a bottle of milk. this went down fine so i think he was ok then.

he was a very refluxy baby for a long time and I gave him some nurofen the other night for his sore tooth so i think it was just an agrivated tummy. fingers crossed thats the last of it.

so exhausting tho looking after him and changing everyone and the sheets and washing and hanging out all on your own.
