If your baby has a bad night

How do you deal with napping during the day?

DS (21 weeks) had a terrible night. He went to bed at 7 but woke at 10 and that's pretty much been him all night. He's had various power naps but no proper stretches of sleep. We think he's had a little dodgy tummy because he's had a couple of really bad nappies.

So far he's fine. Content and happy and showing no sleepy signs yet.

If your baby has a bad night to you let them sleep as much as they want or try and keep them shorter for putting them to bed at night again?

I always let DS sleep whenever he's tired on the basis that I'll take what I can get!

Also I think overtiredness is worse than undertiredness from a getting-them-to-bed-the-next-night POV.

Agree with MakkaPakka. Overtiredness is one of the most common causes of sleep disturbance for my DD, even more so when she was your Ds's age.

I agree, and if you think he is maybe poorly then he should definitely sleep when he needs to.

Bad nappies and restlessness can also be teething.

Thank you. He's sleeping now but woke briefly when the dog woke and scratched herself! He got really upset but is back to sleep again.

Thanks for the teething tip.
