Growth spurt or just a mobility thing?

4.5 month old DD is waking twice in the night again (normally sleeps through until 4 or 5). She did this about 2 weeks ago and it did seem to be a growth spurt. Could this be another one so soon?

She has just learnt to roll, wakes up about 1.00 or 2.00 rolls over and then gets upset and wakes me up.

Was wondering whether I should offer her a feed (which I am doing) or should I be trying to coax her back to sleep and feed her later as normal?

I suppose what I am trying to ask is:

Is it normal to have two growth spurts in as many weeks?

And is 4.5 months too young to start trying to get DD back to sleep in the night without feeding her. She is a healthy weight and eats every 3 hours in the day.

thanks!

Probably a mobility thing, I would have thought, given what you say about her rolling. If it's a growth spurt, you'd probably have noticed she's wanting to eat loads more. And it sounds like a sensible idea to try to get her back to sleep without a feed if you can (although you might not always be able to!) - she should be able to manage without it if she's eating well in the day & is a healthy weight, and ideally you want her to get the hang of getting back to sleep without a feed.

If it is a mobility thing, it may not last all that long (here's hoping!) - but perhaps you could find some way of wedging her in in her cot so she can't roll around so much? (I used to use rolled up towels underneath the cot sheet to wedge my dd in when she started thrashing around and waking herself up by hitting herself against the bars of her cot).

Good luck!
