Could it be night terrors

Ds2 (just turned 2) has never been a very good sleeper but has over the last few weeks been waking up screaming. It is a horrible cry as if he is in pain or he will wake up and it will be a very angry cry. It then takes us a while to settle him back off. Any ideas???

We had the same last night screaming for half the night. Anybody got any ideas or been through similar.

Poor him! And poor you! Has he got all of his teeth, or could it be his molars? My dd has been in absolute agony lately, including waking up screaming in the night, but I'm pretty sure it's teething & baby nurofen usually works wonders.

thank you. could possibly be molars - the thought never crossed my mind.

Night terrors are the worst. Ds1 has them, and he rolls on the floor, screams, doesn't recognize anyone around him and gets more scared, etc. They don't last very long, but if it is night terrors don't try to wake him up, just watch him go through it. IME trying to wake them up makes it worse.

He's 3 and they started around 2.5. If it is night terrors make sure he gets a good nap, because being over tired can bring them on.
