Hi

LO has always been a fairly good sleeper (I know we're blessed) Always gone down at 7pm and wakes any time between 6-7am. Also usually has 2 hour nap at lunchtime.

For the last 3 days she hasn't woken up, I've had to go in and wake her at 8/8.30 and same with her nap during the day, she's slept longer and I've had to go and wake her. She's still asleep now.

I'm starting to worry that there may be a problem. Do children go through times when they need excessive sleep???

It's ridiculous isn't it, you panic when they wont sleep and panic when they do!

If anyone else has advice I'd be grateful, am worried it may be a sign there is something wrong.
Thanks

Dd has always gone through stages like this. At 3 and a half, she went through a stage of sleeping from 7pm - 9am! (bliss!)

It usually coincides with a growth spurt, or signals the fact that she's about to come down with a cold/earache/temperature.

I agree she might be having a growth spurt (either brain developmental milestone, or physically) DD used to do this from time to time (still does but less often).

DD was never a good sleeper, so while we were pleased when she slept extensively, we used to worry too...but then her clothes would not fit her any more!

Thanks ladies!

Funnily enough she woke up with a runny nose today so maybe it is a combination of cold and a growth spurt. Got her MMR on Thursday which we've already had to cancel once due to chest infection.

Should we go through with it if she has a cold or will she be ok?

Personally, I wouldn't give dd any injections if she was at all under the weather. In fact, I think we re-scheduled almost all her injections at least twice!
