I can't believe I'm the only parent up since 4am with the clocks changing

DD is going through a nightmare so far month-long early waking phase anyway (5am onwards). I long for a "lie-in" till 6.30/7am like before. Only with the clocks changing she woke at 4am!

I'm starting to think if this early waking lasts much longer I will have to a) keep her up till 8pm (not 7pm) at night or b) start going to bed at 9pm myself. Either way I will not get much of an evening with DH.

I've posted about this before by the way, I think her early waking phase is a mixture of teething, learning to walk and - this week - a cold. What concerns me is that instead of sleeping 11.5 + 1.5 hours nap, she's sleeping 10 + 1 max hours, so surely she is missing out on much-needed sleep?

Any tips gratefully received!

3.45am here. DS normally makes it to ha;f five at least; seems he's trying to beat the clocks at their own game

It could be worse. I was so looking forward to my "lie in". Dh away for three weeks on business/chick flick/house to myself/coughs and splutters all gone a week ago.

I had the world's worst sleep/terrible nightmares.

Feel like crap now and have a stress headache. And the dcs are still asleep!

What is up with them?

How old is your DD Nature lover?
I have a three year old and he sleeps between 10 - 11 hours a night no naps, but I think that's about right - from what I have read.

naturelover · 26/10/2008 08:26

DD is 14 months.

Oooo! That can be tough. When DS was that age he didn't go to bed until about 11pm and slept until lunch the next day, which suited my work schedule.
Could you make her nap earlier, so she has more time to get tired?
She just sounds like a clever baby who wants to be awake and checking everything out.

DS woke at 6 real time and we ignored him till 6.30 when dh got up for an hr and now its my turn. I am on my 3rd coffee. It could have been alot worse.

IHeartIona · 26/10/2008 09:31

my dd woke up at 6.40 (5.40) and I have been wondering if we would just go with the old time all day so have a ridiculously early lunch! but luckily she went for a nap at 8 and is still asleep (and I had a nap for about an hour with her ) so we may be on "normal" hours soon!
she's 7 mo and my first so haven't had to do this before.

MarchNowFebMum · 26/10/2008 09:50

damn the time change!!

up at 5 but I thought it was 6 (normal time for getting up) of course bc we hadn't changed clocks

what do i do now? put her to bed an hour early and start getting up at 5? yuck if i put her to bed late she always wakes up at the same time!

BroccoliSpears · 26/10/2008 09:52

I got off pretty lightly considering dd often gets up at 4.00am old time so could have been 3 this morning . As it was she came in at 5 new time. Could have been much worse.

EBenes · 26/10/2008 10:05

We've had some rough mornings recently, and this morning would have been the first nice easy one in ages, except the clocks meant she got up at 6 rather than 7. I'm going to move it along in 15 minute increments, I think, rather than try for a full hour shift in one go.

Well my DSes are 10 and 8 and they were awake (or at least DS1 was first and kindly woke his brother) at 5.30.! I had little sleep becasue DH has a groin strain, which is now affecting the whole of his thigh and hip. I've told him tonight he can sleep in the cupboard spare room. He is in agony I know and can hardly walk, but FGS did he need to grunt and groan all night? I've been awake since 3am

Hey my wonderful DD has not slept all night, still has so much energy, although is with my mum at the moment, so i have some peace and to get on with my assignment!
