Co Sleeping - How do you do it?

Sorry if there have been loads like this but I need some advice.

Dd is 18 weeks old and is sleeping in a snuggle nest. She starts in her cot and then I move her into bed with me when she wakes at 3am or sometimes before. She is getting too big for her snuggle nest but I love having her close to me. Dp sleeps on the sofa!

How do you do it? I am worried about her getting under the covers/between the walls or rolling off the bed.

She sleeps in a sleeping bag - Do they still use these if they are on the mattress? Thanks x

if you want to keep her in her sleeping bag, put it on top of your quilt and don't cover her with your covers at all.

Hook your arm around her, make sure you are both wedged in nicely and away you go!

If dp comes to bed, make sure she is not in between you till she's much older.

You may find that you wake up with cramp in your arm and your back hurts right in between your shoulder blades, this is just because you are holding on to her in your sleep and it will pass.

We keep trying to tell dd2 that we no longer co-sleep with her but she doesn't listen. It's great, have lots of snuggly nights!

DD is 9 months and has been co sleeping since about 5 months and on and off before then. She has a sleeping bag as well. I have actually kicked DH out because he is a very tossy and turny sleeper and bundles himself up in the duvet so I don't like it.

I pulled the travel cot up to the other side of the bed so it would stop her rolling out and I sleep lower down the mattress to her so that my duvet is well away from her and her legs are level with my head almost. Really she just sleeps on DH's side of the bed.

oh, when dd2 was very small I used to sort of hook my leg up with my knee bent so that I wouldn't roll on top of her.

I don't think it's likely though, but if you are worried about it, you can place your leg in such a position that it's pretty much impossible iykwim

Oh right, so you hold onto them when you sleep? I have always how you do it properly!

Good idea about blocking the other side of the bed. I may move my room around so that her side of the bed is against a wall.

Do you wedge things between the wall and bed to stop them getting stuck ie a towel rolled up?

I must sound so thick but I really want it work as I love having her close to me.

We have one of those bed guards that you can buy for toddlers.

Thats a good idea. We dont have a head board so the bed is just against a wall.

I had her in bed with me when she was younger but she wasnt as mobile then!
