Grobag AND blanket?

I know that they aren't meant to have extra blankets if using a grobag ... and that overheating increases the risk of SIDS (which is why I keep checking on her in paranoid manner!), but have put DD (5 months old) in grobag with cellular blanket folded on top of her. Its freezing!!!!! ..... Well about 17/18 in her room!

Please tell me that other MNers do this. I want to be guided by my common sense and she feels warm, but not toasty with blanket too, but hate to break the rules.....

Thanks!

Please do not use their hands as a guide. You are in danger of overheating your child.

We have set our heating thermostat to 18 degrees so if it gets colder than 18 degrees, the heating will kick in to bring the temperature back up to 18 degrees.

Be very careful about putting extra blankets on your baby, especially if it is 16 degrees and above. These guidelines are set for a reason.

I use a light blanket with sleeping bag for one son but not the other. The share a room and one is a cold spud (like me) amd the other gets hot just looking at a blanket.

try a sleeping gown with fold down cuffs to cover baby's hands. i rotate 3 gowns (usually 1 in the wash, 1 for emergency), and DD wears a long sleeve bodysuit underneath at night. nature baby or merino kids websites have sleep gowns.

i must say i also use a blanket with 2.5 tog sleeping bag, but it's definitely just 12 or 13 in her room at night, very cool.
