When to drop the nap? Dd is 2.3mo

I have posted loads of threads on her about dd's refusal to settle at night...

So stopped the nap. Dd will go down well at night now, but is very bad tempered and grizzly all day. She looks knackered all the time. But if she even has 1'2 an hour early in the day, she still won't go down at night.

She seems permanently tired, so I just don't know what to do. If she naps she is a nightmare until 9.30 pm. If she doesn't nap she is tired and grumpy all day.

I have tried letting her nap evey third day or so, but this still affects her bedtime.

Any advice

No naps at all all day? confused

cheesesarnie · 03/10/2008 14:01

when she naps how long does she sleep for.what time is nap time, bedtime(on day when she naps and day when she doesnt),what time is wakeup time?

fizzbuzz · 03/10/2008 14:06

No naps atm but v tired.

Goes to bed 7.00pm, gets up 7.30 am. Constantly tired all day on this. Sometimes she will have a lie in and sleep until about 8.30am.

If by chance she falls asleep during the day she will not go to bed until about 9.30pm, even if she only nods off for about 10mins. She still gets up at the same time.

She seems chronically sleep deprived, and a bit too young to drop naps. But she is like clockwork, if she even dozes off during day, still won't go to bed until 9.30pm

how old 2 years 3 months?

LittleMyDancingForJoy · 03/10/2008 14:11

We are going through this with DS - he's 2.5 and has dropped his afternoon nap (just wouldn't go down at all) but has been falling asleep in the buggy on the way home from shops or nursery at about 5ish. If he sleeps for even ten minutes, it's the same story, won't go to bed at night until about 9.30pm.

I think it's a phase while they get used to being up all day, the only option is to push through it. What we've been doing on his days at home (he does 3 days at nursery) is having quiet time after lunch where he's allowed to watch a DVD for an hour or so, so he's not sleeping but he is having a break from being on the go constantly. That seems to help him get through the day without collapsing in a heap!

All the advice I've had is that it's just a phase you have to work through, but it won't last long. DS is already coping a lot better and only occasionally falls asleep in the buggy now.

HTH

Yes, I've tried the quite hour, it does seem to do something. Yes she is 2 years and 3 months (just). It seems to be very young to drop a nap.

I nedd it more than her obviously

when you have quiet hour what do you do?go lay down with her.maybe nice walk first.

i think my ds2 was around same age when dropped naps( miss those days)

fizzbuzz · 03/10/2008 14:21

Take her out to park, have lunch, cuddle up for dvd about 1.00pm. She will sit still (or lie) for a bit, but is soon twitching to move.

I have to keep an eye on her, when she is lying down, or she nods off when I go into the kitchen or something...

Why can't they nap until they start school?
