Are sleeping bags all they're cracked up to be?

Just wondered what everyone thinks of sleeping bags for babies, really.

My DS has slept in one since about 3 months. He's a very restless sleeper and they've been great because obviously he hasn't been able to kick it off. And it seems to restrict his movement to a certain extent. But in the last week or so he's managed to get it undone twice (it's got poppers- do we need zips?). He's only 11mo so I don't think he's done it on purpose, just done a lot of wiggling!

And I wondered if maybe he'd sleep better if allowed to wriggle more freely- maybe with a double layer of babygro or something?

Anyone got any thoughts?

I've always found them excellent as both of my DC have always done several laps of their cots at night.

Apart from one bag all our sleeping bags had zips on (although some zipped top to bottom and some vice-versa so it kept the DC on their toes!).

I would stick with them, particularly over the winter.

Oh God yes, they're fantastic but definitely yes to zips as they get older. DD mastered poppers early on and has broken out of a Maclaren footmuff so it's only a matter of time but I'm hoping she's too sleepy to kick her way out of these!

brilliant things - although would definitely agree zips, once they fathom out the zip, turn them inside out, then when they work that out, back to front and inside out contains them a little more........until they learn to climb out of their cot while still in the darned thing at 14 months (DS2)

OMG FAQ! I think your DS is going to be an escapologist. I'm dreading the moment when my DS decides to try... I know he's going to be able to do it, too!
