I have run out of ideas!
My daughter has moderate to sometimes severe excema. It really effects her sleep and her ability to relax (i.e she doesnt do much of either!) and it always has.
This summer, I have had a lot on and have not been sleeping properly or going to bed really late and I am shocked at how unsettled her nights really are.
On a good night, she will probably push out an hour before stirring. She scratches almost all of her time in bed, whines, moans fidgets etc If you speak to her to ask her to stop or something, then she is conscious enough to listen and give you an answer "sorry Mum" or something similar. Last night she slept with me and it was after 3am when I fell asleep because of her constant scratching and fidgeting. Even when I fell asleep, it didnt last long as she woke me again (Im not a light sleeper!)
We have tried specialist clothing companies for bedding and Jim Jams, anti allergy mattress pillow protector stuff.
I have had humidifiers in her room.
She sees a specialist at the hospital and we have had steroids, oilatums, diprobases, the whole list!! We have been on a new one for a few year that is an alternative to steroids but that has stopped having an effect, like all of them eventually do.
We have used Phenergan (SP) which made it worse as she was still fidgety and scratchy but terrible the next day. Piriton, loratidine etc.
My DD is really emotional and stroppy and stressed out nearly all the time, her friends are all starting to grow up and she is being left behind and Im convinced its because she doesnt get the right kind and amount of sleep.
Can anyone help me, how do i give her settled nights?
Thanks
