How to move 6 wk ds1's long sleep

He has started going for 7 hours from his bed time, of course I'd like him to go 7 hours from my bed time when I dream feed him!

Whether or not I dream feed him makes no difference, he still wakes 7 hours (ish) after his final feed of the day at bed time. And then every 2 hours from thereon in (as per the rest of the day). He has a good feed at my bedtime, I don't think that it's the case that it's not a substantial enough feed to make any real difference to his calorie intake iyswim. He's exclusively breastfed although I do express and give him my milk in a bottle a few times a week.

Any ideas on how to get him to do his 7 hour stint from 11-6 rather than 7.30-2.30 or thereabouts?

I am no expert as my boy is only 6 weeks too but my god I'd love for him to sleep for more than 3.5 hours at one go!

I think most people on here may well say he's only 6 weeks old and it is way too early to be trying to have a fixed sleep routine. I think it is all about feeding and sleeping on demand until around the 10-12 week mark unless you want to go down the Gina route! I think be thankful that you have the evening to yourself.

Probably not what you want to hear - sorry!

finallypregnant- yes it is a bit of a shock seeing as he'd never slept longer than 2.5 hours before! And I'm not a routine type person, so not wanting those exact times just wondering if there is anything I could do to try and encourage his long sleep to be more convenient for me (and yes I know I know babies are rarely convenient ). I'm an unstructured sort of adult and so certainly don't expect my lovely little baby to do anything other than demand feed/sleep- but seeing as he is already doing it himself just wondered if he'd mind changing his timing a teensy bit...

Should have also checked the title before I posted, he's ds2 not ds1. Ds1 is 3.8 now and didn't do 7 hours at a stretch until he was about 6 months old, so you're right, I should be thankful!

TBH, I've always found it better to let them extend their sleep so they gradually sleep longer from what you deem to be their bedtime. All 3 of mine have done this, slowly extending their sleep will it's all night. Some were slower than others .
