Anyone got an Amby nest and regretted it?

Am seriously considering one of these after reading rave reviews...

Now £100-150 is a lot of money... but I am thibking that for even three or four months of improved sleep it would be well worth it!!

Is there anyone out there who regretted it? Ie it didn't work for you?

I returned mine and got a full refund. I bought it off a website which gave a sleep guarantee. I even called the site before to make sure that if my dd did not sleep, I could return it.

My dd would not stay in it for more than 5 minutes. I persevered for 1 week to no avail and then returned it.

We found it worth every penny but they soon grow out of them.
You can get a baby bouncer to attach to them so you get your moneys worth and they keep their price well on e bay.

we LOVED ours. and so have the five or so friends i know who got one.

moocowme · 14/08/2008 19:50

mine was well worth it for those few blissful months of good sleep - before the nightmare teething started!

so easy to have next to the bed and gently bounce it in a semi sleeping state.

Which website was that blueshoes?

loved ours, and lasted longer than crib or basket

umlellala, it was 5 years ago, but I believe this is the site: here

Looking at it again, it does not have an explicit sleep guarantee. But the refund policy (scroll towards the bottom of the home page) says you must return 'unused and unwashed' within 7 days. I was dithering whether to purchase and so called the site and the lady assured me that it would work and I got her verbal confirmation I could return even after using and testing. But she did not know my dd was hardcore!

Umlellala · 14/08/2008 21:06

ha! they've prob retracted their guarantee because of your hardcore dd! (does she sleep now?)

i am just convincing dh now... so gonna get one!

Thanks for asking. Yes, dd sleeps like a dream now. Took 2 years to get there!

DillyTanty · 14/08/2008 22:28

umlella, when you put them in, you bounce them up and down. rather harder than you might think, actually. it simulates you walking about and that's when they drop off.

Umlellala · 14/08/2008 23:05

Can I ask, did your dc cry as they dropped off? Or did they go from awake to asleep without crying? My ds will sometimes drop off in the sling but mainly wants to suck first, obv can't bf in the nest!

Dilly, thanks, that makes sense. Ds likes the bouncer we have (and yes, that's rather vigorous sometimes...) and the sling, so I think he would settle well in nest. My concerns are that I would end up co-sleeping anyway (this is what I'd prob ideally do, dh wants him to learn to sleep alone guess this might be good compromise). I already have a co-sleeper which ds doesn't settle in right now (although tbh haven't made any effort, just enjoyed him sleeping on me - he's only 3 weeks )

Convince me please - anyone got one to sell (or look at/borrow near N16?)

ps blueshoes, glad your dd sleeps well now! I didn't think mine had improved much (still wakes at least once, she is 2.3, co-sleeping at moment) until I had the newborn and thought, oh, she IS much better...

no, she didn't cry that i recall. but then i was singing twinkle twinkle little star quite loudly... i don't recall her being absolutely delighted to get in, though, iykwim? she'd rather have been carried forever, for sure.
