11 week old wants to go to bed?!

My DS (number 2) has just turned 11 weeks. To date, he has been a very big sleeper, so much so we got concerned and even took him to the GP because of how much he sleeps!

He’s always wanted to be asleep by 6/6:30pm. The last few days he’s been fussy when being held to sleep/rocked to sleep, he’s asleep but just unsettled. Tonight I wondered if he just wanted to be in his bed, so I popped him in his swaddle and into the next to me crib and he’s been asleep ever since (just over an hour now).

Has anyone else had a baby so young want to go to bed like this before?! My first DS wanted to sleep on me or co-sleep for as long as possible and even now (aged 5.5) won’t go to sleep without me.

I worry I’ve done something wrong and he doesn’t want to be cuddled like his brother, maybe I haven’t spent enough time with him because there’s two of them? It doesn’t feel right at all to be sat watching him on a monitor when he’s just so little (maybe it’s just my hormones and this is fine, but I just want to be cuddling my little baby in the evening!).

Any advice welcomed!

Just be very thankful you have a good sleeper. My eldest DS slept so much I had to eventually wake him up to feed. I'd change his nappy then he'd sleep again. My friends and family used to comment they never saw him awake. He slept all night from about 7pm to 6am from birth. I certainly never grumbled because one of my friends new babies the same age cried a lot and kept waking up in the night. several times. She was always asking me how I made him sleep all the time but I guess he was just tired.

Had the same with a baby that would only sleep on his own. He always slept the best in his pram in the garden. As soon as 6 months hit and he was in his own cot he slept the most he’d slept all night. Think I just irritated him 😂 he’s the same now, loves his own space

All of mine liked their own space from the get go. We would put them in the basket like others have mentioned and from 6 months they went in their cots in their own room. 3 out of my 4 would sleep 12 hrs straight from 3 months on.

I have 4 sons. None have been the type that wanted to be held. My 20yr old used to sleep 14hrs from been 14mths. I was so worried how much he slept that when he was 3 I had his iron checked. All fine. They all loved been in their own space. They all slept on their fronts too soon as they were old enough of in the starfish position. Some babies are quite content sleeping by themsleves xxx

Some babies don't like to be fussed and will grizzle a bit but fall asleep in their bed, mine slept in their pram in the livingroom in the evening, i did a "bed time" routine from.4 weeks so was milk changed then bed.

I then took them with me when I went to.bed usually after a feed.

I had a strict routine from first day home. Up for bath, little story and feed then bed in their own cots, lights out about 7.30 and I was outta there (yes they slept in their own rooms). I can count on one hand the times I had a disruptive night, not to say they never woke up, but sleepy feed when I went up to bed tten maybe they’d wake again around 3am for another feed. But that stopped at about three months so only one feed during the night and then I stopped as they were growing fine and if they didn’t wake then hurrah! My daughter was fussier at first than my son but she got it with perseverance, and I never held them or nursed them to sleep. They are 21 and 23 now.
