Fellow mums,

How does sleep deprivation make you feel physically?

Feel like I’m dying, 2 and a half weeks fragmented 5 hours but waking every 2 hours in that time frame. SEN mam. It has me feeling so poorly. Did it affect anyone here like this?

The way I’m feeling feel like something is so wrong with me and anxiety is so high, the aches and pains are next level, lightheaded, no energy. I had a longer sleep last night as was child free and seen a tiny difference, I also noticed at the start of the week but it’s hit me again.

How long does it take to get better?

I do really really badly with sleep deprivation. You have to make it your #1 priority, for a while at least. Before food and exercise. Otherwise you will suffer ill health and shorten your lifespan. Find a sleep clinic, or talk to your GP. Hopefully that will send the message to everyone around you that its very serious. Otherwise they'll downplay it and make you feel like a whinger.

The fixed wake time is what sorted me out. 6:30am no matter how little I slept — first week was brutal but after about 2 weeks I started getting proper sleep again. Magnesium glycinate before bed helped too.

If you're struggling, there's a decent guide I found that covers a lot of this stuff: sleepreview.co.uk/guides/better-sleep-tips/?utm_source=mumsnet&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=rep

Hope you find something that works x
