How do you help newborns settle in prams and car seats?

I have a 5 1/2 week old baby boy. I’m just getting over my c-section so starting to walk further and taking trips in the car ahead of me starting driving again next week. Every time we put DS in the car seat and pram he just screams until we pick him up. My first child was the same, but it was Covid so we didn’t really go anywhere and I just used the sling/carrier. DS has a more relaxed character so I’m wondering how others get babies to sleep in prams/ the car. Are you just putting them awake in the big space of the bassinet / car seat and off you go? Or am I missing a trick?!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

One thing that stood out to me from your post is that you had a c-section. Babies sometimes have tension in their body from sections and it causes them to cry in car seats and prams. My DD kept screaming and we took her to a baby osteopath at around 11 weeks as we noticed she was only lifting her head in certain positions. A few adjustments later and she was a new baby! No more screaming in the car, no more reflux,... I couldn't believe it.
