Ten month old doesn’t sleep at night

Nighttime is horrific.
we both work. Partner 5:30am til 5pm.
Myself 7:30am til 5pm.
We have tried everything. Routine, gentle sleep training, CIO. He does not stop.
He will wake up every couple of hours. Whether in his cot or with us.
Out of desperation, partner brings him into our bed after repeated attempts of settling. He has one to two hour naps in the daytime which usually are smooth.
We are at the point of breakdowns from exhaustion.
I have 2 older kids: neither were like this. Both slept through, went straight down. Granted he’s still in with us as we are waiting on a mortgage offer for a bigger house so he has his own room.
Even when I get up and try to get ready for work, as soon as I leave the room he just screams. The minute he goes back into his cot. The hot weather has made it worse. Any form of routine we had is gone as he’s so unsettled from the heat as our bedroom reaches about 26. Any advice is appreciated.

Hard to comment without any actual timings.

When does he fall asleep? When does he wake? Does he sleep well in your bed?

Usually falls asleep around 7:30pm.
Wakes continually around 8, 9 & 10. Then sleeps til about 12:30am ends up in bed with us then fidgets all through the night til my partner gets up around 4:45am.

In this heat, the last 2 days, he hasn’t fallen asleep til about 10:30pm. Not through us not trying! Just far too hot. We have ordered an AC unit to try to help.

through the day. He naps about 10am for an hour and about 2pm for an hour.

I'd try cutting day sleep down, and later bedtime. He needs to be more tired for the night.

How old are the other two children?

Could they temporarily share so your 10 month old has one of their rooms?

I’ve been exactly where you are OP so you have my complete sympathies, but the only thing that solved it was sleep training whilst him being in his own room (which we embarked upon when he was 10 months old because things had reached utter breaking point).

17 year old girl, 11 year old boy. My 11 year old is dying to sleep downstairs due to the heat and with it being the holidays I might let him do that and see what it's like with baby in own room.

We have tried sleep training but he's just so stubborn he doesn't give in, even after 3 hours of trying. But alas, we will keep attempting. I will look up sleep training threads also, thank you

We did try cutting out the 2nd nap. Last nap was 10am and then he wouldn't sleep until 10pm.
He still didn't sleep through 😂
I will keep trying.

I used a Sleep Consultant for training as me and my husband had tried everything and nothing had worked. We felt absolutely lost.

She was honest and told me that most sleep training methods do not work unless the infant is in their own room.

If you have Facebook, search for “Child Sleep Solutions” - that’s who we used.

Her name is Nicola and it cost us £100 but she absolutely saved us!!!
