Is frequent dummy waking at 15 weeks normal or a sleep association?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice/reassurance about my 15-week-old.
Over the last week and a half she’s started doing something new with her pacifier—she’ll pull it out herself and then cry for it, so I have to keep putting it back in. When she’s falling asleep for naps, she also likes to hold/touch the pacifier while sucking it.
At bedtime she goes down around 8:30pm with the pacifier, then I do a top-up feed at 10pm and she falls asleep feeding and usually stays asleep without the pacifier after that.
The part that’s worrying me is overnight. Last night she woke at 4am fussing (eyes kind of open and closing), rooting and sucking on my hand, so I gave the pacifier and she went back to sleep until 5:30am. After that, she kept waking every ~10 minutes needing the pacifier replaced until 7am.
She also sometimes gets frustrated when trying to fall asleep—turning her head side to side, flailing her arms, spitting out the pacifier and then crying for it again.

I guess I’m wondering:

  • Is this normal for this age?
  • Is this a phase or am I creating a dependency on the pacifier?
  • Anyone who went through something similardid it get better if you just stuck with it?

Any advice or similar experiences would really help, I’m probably overthinking it but last night really threw me!

She’s formula fed and had a really good intake during the day, so I don’t think it’s hunger. She’s never usually fed overnight either. That’s why I’m wondering if it’s more of a pacifier/sleep association thing or just a phase?

You've never fed her overnight? If she's waking in the night, I'd try it and see if it helps, esp the 5 am wake up

Yes she’s never woken up in the night for a feed. She’s always slept through from 10pm-7/8am. She’s formula fed and always had all her feeds and more if needed during the day and slept through the night. This is a new thing she’s started doing with the pacifier and I just want to know anyone who went through something similar did it get better if you just stuck with it?

I think if it happens again tonight try and give her a bottle . It’s getting hotter during the day so she might be more fluids. My 2nd son was bottle fed and he was an amazing sleeper , but he would often wake for a fed between 2-4

Ok I’ll try that tonight. Did you ever experience this with the pacifier with your son? She also loves spitting it out during the day and I’ve to replace it constantly it’s like she wants it but gets frustrated at the same time and doesn’t want it but as soon as it falls she’s fussing for it. I’m a FTM so I’m just anxious 😥

Of course a 15 week old needs night feeds. but also you've been getting incredible sleep for a newborn, enjoy that. it was never going to last! if the dummy is an issue just get rid of it. mine never took one - it'll only get harder to take it away the longer you leave it.

Sounds like she wants to be fed to me. How often does she feed during the night?
