Cot vibrators, seen advertisements could they help a 9 month old sleep

9 Month baby wakes nearly every 90 mins during the night, to suckle for comfort and then to be rocked in arms to get back to sleep. Sleeps about 2h30 in 2 naps during the day.
Has anyone found success with an under mattress vibrator or those that fit under the base of the cot legs.

We have a rockit that we use on the pram, mainly just when she's asleep in shops and the floor is too smooth (something i never thought would be a problem in my life 😂)
They do work quite well though but I would deffo get a cot specific one with mains power.

It sounds hazardous to me. Rokit for a pram is different as you'd be around whilst they're napping. I'd be too nervous to leave something electric running attached to the cot, whilst I was asleep. You might be better to work on settling in other ways, have you thought about a floor bed so you cuddle baby then move away easily? Has really helped us move away from rocking, especially as she's got bigger. I'd consider less day sleep or later bedtime so baby is tireder for the night.

About 40 mins after being rocked to sleep and put down he wakes up.

I have one of the rockit spacemen which vibrates, you place it on the mattress. It’s utterly useless and glad I bought it second hand because it’s made no difference. It’s still very normal for babies that age to wake multiple times a night.

Saw one on a pram for the 1st time looked like a large vibrating egg took a minute to work out it's purpose.

I think you would be better to work on settling him in the cot rather than rocking, bum pats and singing always worked well for mine. I’d try cutting naps down / later bedtime - sounds like he isnt tired enough currently for the night

Tried all. He falls asleep after being rocked, continue to rock for 15 mins or he’ll wake up, finally lay him down, skin to skin and after 40 mins he wakes up wanting to be rocked. Two naps a day 45min and another about an hour to an hour and a half if lucky. .Wakes up 6am bed at 8.30/9pm

I'd stop the rocking to sleep as this is what's causing the issue.
Rock him until he's calm and sleepy then put him in the cot and pat his bum and shush him.
If he gets really upset then pick him up, rock til calm again and put him back down, pat & shush.
Keep repeating until he falls asleep - key is that he falls asleep in the cot and not in your arms in motion.

I would too. Op, he will soon be a toddler. Your back will thank you for sorting this sooner rather than later. Choose a sleep training method (that doesn't involve a prop) and stick with it. Consistency is key. He will fall asleep eventually.

Peonies12 · 08/03/2026 17:50

He’s having too much sleep in the day, from what naps you’ve said, 3 naps is too much. Cut to 2 naps, max 1 hour each. He’s simply not tired enough for the nights

marcyhermit · 08/03/2026 18:39

The first post says 2 naps.

Washingupdone · 09/03/2026 08:32

Falling asleep at 9pm is not such a problem, he’s tired. The problem is he wakes up screaming after every sleep cycle changes, until he is rocked asleep that is why I was asking how to get him back to sleep without picking him up. As soon as he is skin to skin he easily goes back to sleep.

You have trained him to fall asleep in a certain way (rocking and skin to skin) so he needs the same every time he stirs in the night.
Put yourself in his shoes - if you fell asleep cuddled up to someone and then woke up unexpectedly alone in a different place, you would probably scream too 😂

Think about how you would like him to resettle in the night, and then make that the conditions he falls asleep in at bedtime.
