9 months old won't sleep in crib at night...

....but happily does 2x 75 mins naps in the crib during the day.

How do I get her to sleep in her crib overnight (which she was doing nicely at night until she hit 6 months and started crawling/teething).

I've tried putting her down drowsy but awake and pat her bum til she falls asleep. I've tried holding her until she's in a deep sleep and putting her down. Every single time she wakes up hysterically crying after 5 minutes. We can't do cry it out as she will never stop crying - I know this because she cries throughout every car journey!

I can't co sleep anymore. She is such an active sleeper and is constantly crawling in her sleep or climbing onto me to sleep. I'm so sleep deprived and I just need her to sleep in her crib (even for a few hours so I don't have to go to bed at 7pm as well!!!!)

Any suggestions?

You just have to persevere. She will sleep in there. It just might be a fight.

You can try keeping her sheet in your top for a bit so it smells like you etc., but ultimately it's just keeping her in there until she settles.

Does she have a dummy? Or a comfort toy?

Oh bless it's hard isn't it. They just want to be close to us.

How many attempts are you doing before you give up and take her to bed with you?

I would try controlled crying. It might take 4 or 5 night to break the habit, but babies dont come programmed to know how to soothe themselves to sleep, they have to be taught. Some take longer to learn than others, but they all will in the end if they are given the opportunity.

I am going to bet you will be a much better mother if you have had a full nights sleep, so long term its a win win

I put mine in a single floor bed with extra high guard at 10 months because he just couldn't stand being squished in his cot. Best thing I ever did as he just wanted space to sleep travel 😅

She does have a dummy and I'm trying to get her to take a comfort toy but that's not really working.

Tonight it was 4 times so she was in our bed by 9pm I think. She is so unsettled in our bed though, just constantly tossing and turning. I've had no sleep and now had to come in to settle my 3 year old. It's fine now while I'm still on mat leave but absolutely dreading going back to work

My husband just won't allow it though so I feel like I'm stuck. I'm definitely not the mum I want to be when I'm so sleep deprived.

Floor bed worth a try!
my baby would nap for 2-3 hours in the day then be up every hour at night! Moved to small double floor bed, slept through all night, when teething wakes up for some comfort once maybe! Absolute game changer! I waited till she was 18 months to try… you can imagine my guilt and sadness at not giving it a go sooner!!
