What time do your 9/10 year olds go to sleep? ADHD

Our daughter is nearly 10, she has been diagnosed with adhd since she was 7 and we suspect autism. We go upstairs at 8, in bed by 8.30ish and she will read her book, we go upstairs around at 9.15 to take the book off her, some nights she will go straight to sleep, but most nights she is calling us back to her room until 10.30 asking for things, water(her bottle is next to her, but she won’t sit up to drink it if no one in the room with her), food, needs a light on, is hot, is cold, needs the toilet, heard a noise! It is relentless and exhausting and as parents we are at breaking point. She still has a monitor in her room which doesn’t help, but when we tried to remove it she was having meltdowns in the middle of the night and screaming for us. She needs to wake for school at 7.45/8.
what time do your 10 year olds going to bed? Any tips on how to help bedtime?

10yo goes to bed about 9:30

Mine never went to sleep until about 10.30.

In the end she came in with us until she was 13.

We didn't get on top of this with our AuDHD child until she was prescribed melatonin. We had to sit in her room till she fell asleep until she was about 12, but at least she sleeps!

Can I ask did she get any side effects from the melatonin? Gp was reluctant as said it can disrupt puberty?

A GP can’t prescribe melatonin it has to be a paediatrician. Even once prescribed the GP can’t alter the dose and it has to go back to the paediatrician for the dose to be altered.

She hasn't had any side effects that we are aware of. As a pp says though, it generally has to be prescribed by a paediatrician.

She is prescribed up to 6mg but generally only ever takes 2mg

The risks and benefits need to be balanced, as terrible sleep and high stress are bad too.

If she’s asleep by 10.30 and up and 7.30 and sleeps all night then she’s getting an average amount of sleep. My dd at that age was probably sleeping by 10ish.

mine has just turned 11 but for about the past year has been asleep by 9pm, no screens after 8.30
She wakes up naturally about 7am so I think she’s getting a good amount of sleep.
Weekends it’s usually more like asleep by 9.30/10pm
