14 months sleep pattern royally messed up!

Hello, My 14mo ds has never been the greatest sleeper but up until 2 weeks ago we would lay him in his cot and he'd doze off on a nighttime by himself, usually sleeping from around 7.45pm-1pm then after a little wake he'd sleep in until around 6.30/7am.

All of a sudden in the last 2 weeks hes completely changed, he screams bloody murder when being placed in his cot and it can take upwards of 40/50 mins to get him to sleep. He only seems to doze off if you're stood in front of him or if he falls asleep in my arms after numerous attempts of putting him down.

Hes also all of a sudden decided that 4/5am is wake up time and he will not go back to sleep now matter how hard I try to stay quiet and rock/shh/soothe him and this is now affecting my work as I'm getting less sleep and his naps are affecting childcare.

His bedtime routine has never changed, we do bath, book, breastfeed then bed and he has a good play and a slice of toast before his bath to get all his energy out and to to bed with a full tummy. We have a white noise machine, black our curtains and a little snuggley for him to cuddle.

Anyone else had a similar issue and have the answer lol? TIA x

What's his naps like? Maybe time to stop from two to one?

It might be a sleep regression/ teething / learning new skills…I went through hourly wake-ups with mine for a 6-week period between 13/14 months, I was desperate and the sleep deprivation when he was a newborn was nothing compared to that! Luckily the last couple of weeks have been much better, and he now often sleeps from 7.30-6.30. I think you just need to ride it out.

Is he ready to drop to 1 nap? Sounds like he is getting too much day sleep.
