Tried and tested snoring remedies

Until recently my DH very rarely snored. Over the past few months it seems to be happening every night and it's massively impacting my sleep (even with ear plugs it wakes me up).
He will often sleep in another room to avoid waking me but I don't want that long term. I have nothing against separate rooms in theory but we spent a fortune on our mattress and feel bad he ends up relegated to the cheap one in the spare room. Also I like spontaneous middle of the night action 😅

He isn't overweight. He sleeps on his side. He doesn't drink or take sedatives. He does sleep with his mouth open. Any solutions that have worked for others? Mouth tape? One of these mouth guard things?

Is his nose a bit blocked? Try a nasal steroid spray for a few weeks.

A pillow pressed hard over the face is quite effective, albeit permanent! 😉

Mouthguard worked for my husband!

Mouth tape was semi successful

Pregnancy turned me into a mouth breather, I use tape these days and it improved the quality of my sleep. It’s a common misconception that slim fit ppl can’t have sleep apnea, so it might be worth going for a sleep study.

I’d be asking why he has suddenly starting snoring if no weight gain or drinking habit?

Unfortunately for my DH, CPAP was the only thing that worked.

Thanks. Did he need a sleep study for that?

Thanks. Assume the GP can refer?

In desperation I paid a fortune for a Somnowell device. It's uncomfortable although slowly I am getting used to it. Initially it cut my snoring down by 90% but lately it has been less effective and I am thinking it may need adjusting. Got an appointment with the dentist shortly so fingers crossed 🤞

I’d love to know for myself. I’ve always been a snorer, I come from a long line of snorers and I love the sound of snoring at night as it is like white noise to me but none of my kids do.

People snore for different reasons. My snore comes from the back of my throat when I relax into sleep. I don’t know how to reduce this…I don’t drink alcohol at all, healthy BMI, not on any medications. I think it’d be surgery for uvula but I don’t want that.
