With my son we swaddled him, but I read that's not recommended anymore.
I'm looking for recommendations of breathable natural fabric sleepbags which are quite tight as in make them feel secure, but with arms out.
What did you use?

I liked the love to dream swaddle ups, my first loved it, my second has disliked any sort of sleeping bag.

Thanks, what do you put them in if they dislike sleeping bags? I feel like I'm starting again haha I have two much older children.

We used a cellular blanket when they were newborns - in line with safe sleep guidance you ensure you put their feet at the bottom of the cot / crib and tuck the blanket in tightly under their armpits and the mattress. Arms out but a sense of security tucked around their trunk. My second didn’t move lots in her sleep so it worked well for her in particular. Sleeping bags happened from about 6-8 weeks I think.

I also recommend the love to dream swaddle up. My newborn slept well in it until she transitioned to the normal sleeveless ones when she got bigger.

My newborn had a love to dream swaddle, their arms are up.and they have a little movement but held enough to feel secure. They aren't thick though with winter coming so might need cellular blanket tucked over safely depending how warm their room is, my son was born in hot London summer then had his first winter in Scotland so had to stop using love 2 dream and put him in the normal ones with a higher tog.

Snuzpod baby sleeping bags were good for my (slight premature, but 2.9kg) baby. They fit a bit tighter around the abdomen and have poppers under the arms to shrink the holes down). So long as the head can't slide inside, they should be safe.

I really liked the Tommee Tippee sleeping bags. They were tighter around his chest and had extra poppers under the arms so make it smaller while he was still tiny so they fit from newborn. We wanted to avoid swaddling if possible because you have to stop when they can roll and I didn’t want to wean him off something if he didn’t need it in the first place. As it was as long as he had the boob all night he didn’t care what he slept in, and he was jaundiced so had a few nights naked under a UV light as a newborn anyway.

Cellular blankets didn’t work for us because he’s always been so strong and active that from very young he’d lift both legs up and down repeatedly and manage to untuck it, so we’ve always used sleeping bags which move with him at least.
