My 8 month old keeps waking up anywhere between 4.30am & 5.30am out of nowhere ready to start his day. He has 3 small naps during the day as he’s never been a big napper but a very very active baby who never stops moving, crawling, climbing ect. His naps usually last around 20-30 minutes. He’s is on 3 meals a day and 6oz bottles every 3 hours (not during the night) He goes to bed anywhere behween 7pm & 8pm given what time his last nap was and i always try give him a 3 hour wake window before bedtime with a little bedtime routine of dory’s reef cam, a massage, cuddles and a bottle. He wakes sometimes for his dummy during the night which is fine but i just want him to sleep a little longer in the morning. I’ve ordered a blackout blind to try, is there any other advice / anything else i can try? Thank you :)

I think they go through a phase of this and there's not much you can do except give in to it.

My baby did the same for a few months and it was mid-winter so I was awake 3 hours before it even got light. I felt like the only person in the world awake!

It will improve but for now try not to get stressed by it and plan what you'll do between 5-8am in your semi-conscious state. As it's light perhaps go for a long pram walk and a coffee somewhere at the first opening of a cafe?

Agree with @MROMRthey all go through these time to time. My LO did this from 8 to 12 months just recently up to a more acceptable wake up of 6.30am now! Try the usual advice, white noise, black out blind, not to hot/cold etc but really its probably just a (knackering) phase!

4.30 ugh but 5.30… it was a good day if my son managed to make it to 6am ever - he’s 21 now and is still up very early! Your routine seems fine - you may just have an early bird and things may yet settle.

Mine was an early riser until she started school. At 8mo you just need to accept it. Once they are talking you can try a groclock which we used with varying success to keep them in bed till at least 6. Both teenagers now and currently still asleep.
