Baby noises during sleep

Looking for advice - or other experiences.

My 3 month old is often really, really noisy when she sleeps.

She will have a few silent hours at the beginning of the night and then in the early hours of the morning she will start to kick around, occasionally crying out and vocalising but without seeming to wake (her eyes are always closed). She'll make noise for a few seconds to a couple of minutes and then settle down so a short time and then start back up again. I'm fairly certain she is staying asleep throughout and I cant find much in the way of advice online as to when to intervene. Most article suggest waiting a few minutes to see if they settle - she does, but then starts again.

It's obviously very difficult to sleep through when she's being noisy, and I usually end up intervening and getting her up to feed. She will eat for a couple of minutes and then fall asleep again. My question is, should I just leave her until I'm sure she's fully awake before intervening?

I know she could be just transitioning between sleep cycles (though I don't understand why she seems able to sleep quietly at first and then gets noisy later...). I'm also very aware we could have a sleep regression coming up when she transitions into 'adult' sleep. My gut is telling me I should let her be until she's fully awake as this will likely help her out with learning to fall asleep on her own later down the line but would appreciate any thoughts.

I'd let her be personally. You'll be able to tell when she's genuinely awake and needs you! Newborns can be so noisy. My husband flat out couldn't sleep when ours were in our room!

It's like sharing a room with a hyperactive snuffling hedgehog.
She will cry "properly" if she needs food or nappy change but unfortunately the rest of the snuffling and fidgeting you have to put up with 🙁

Leave her be. Babies are incredibly noisy. Lots of grunts, sighs, shuffling, moans and groans.

If she really needs something she'll be awake and crying, evidenced by the fact she doesn't feed when you pick her up.

My now 15 year old sounded like an entire farm yard for the first 3 to 4 months of sleeping.

No one warns you do they!? Literally the saying "sleep like a baby" is a lie!! I believe they call it "active sleep" and its perfectly normal. Yet, no midwife, or antenatal class ever mentions it to give a heads up.

Every single first time mum I've met has had the same experience with no heads up!

My girl.... She was fast asleep, but grunting, scrunching, going "woowooo" and flapping about like a fish out of water...all whilst asleep. Now she's sleeps through peacefully, with a few random dance moves, most of the time (finally)

Thank you everyone - it's very reassuring to hear from other people who have had similar experiences! I actually cannot believe how loud she is. I expected a bit of snuffling and snorting, but the shouts were unexpected. I'll leave her be tonight and see how it goes, I've told DH he has permission to go sleep in the spare room if it gets unbearable.
