Hi any tips or advice my 9 month old won’t sleep in her cot but only at bedtime so she goes for her 2 naps in there fine I don’t do anything I put her down and walk away she sometimes cries for like 30 seconds and sometimes she babbles for a bit but always gets herself to sleep at bedtime I do give her a bottle and then I put her down and she just cries and cries until I pick her up, sometimes I hold her for 15/20 minutes and she’s sleeping arms but as soon as I put her in she cries so I don’t understand what’s going on sometimes she does eventually fall asleep in there it can be up to 2 hours later sometimes I put her on my bed and when she’s asleep I transfer her and she stays asleep sometimes I have to put her in the little cot in our room and she sometimes still cries then falls asleep just getting fed up of being upstairs in the dark 2 plus hours everynight getting her to sleep

Can you give quick run through of her schedule? As you know she can fall asleep cot I’m wondering if something is off with regard to timings that is causing her to be fussy at bedtime rather than it being a cot issue per se.

I agree with pp, this could be to do with the daytime routine.

Does she have a bottle before her naps ? It could be just that she has wind or just feels uncomfortable going to bed with a full tummy. My eldest would never settle straight after feeding, try feeding earlier ?

if she settles other times the cot shouldn’t be an issue, could it be that the rooms darker or the house noise is different?

Her schedule usually wakes up half 6/7 has a bottle then breakfast is about 9 the her first nap is usually 10 until 11:30 then lunch about 12/12:30 second nap is normally 2:30 until 4 the wake up bottle then about and hour later food then she has a bath every other day which is usually about quarter to 7 then from 7 we normally get pyjamas on and ready for bed usually go up between 7 and 7:30 have the bottle which she normally falls asleep having

At 9 months mine never would have slept at 7 if they had done a big nap 2:30-4pm.
I would just assume lack of tiredness and keep her up for an hour.

no she doesn’t have a bottle before naps if I’m honest she’s very much a food girl and since weaning she does not have much formula at all only has 3 bottles a day and the most she has is the one before bed thats why I’m a bit cautious to give it her earlier cus if say I gave her the bottle downstairs I don’t think she drink as much she’d get distracted by something, but maybe it is something to try, I have just brought new black out curtains but they didn’t seem to change anything and I don’t think there’s any different noises

Thst second nap is too late and too long. I would move first nap earlier, then second nap earlier and make it a bit shorter.

Yup your schedule is off. Naps are too late, first nap is too long and there’s not a big enough gap of awake time before bed. She’s almost certainly not tired when you’re trying to put her to bed.

Try the 2,3,4 schedule. It usually works really well for babies around this age.

You want the first nap 2 hours after waking so probably around 9am for you. Cap it after an hour.
Second nap hours 3 after waking and for no more than 2 hours which would likely be 1-3pm.
Bedtime 4 hours after that so around 7pm.
