Baby’s sharing with sibling concerns

Hi, my baby is only 3 months so I’m not planning on moving him out of our room yet but when I do he’ll be moving in with his older brother who if we move baby at 6 months old will have just turned 3. My concern is that ds may put toys or blankets in babies bed even if I explain that it’s unsafe I’m not sure ds will fully grasp it as I have spoken to him about it already yet I have caught him on numerous occasions trying to give him a teddy when he’s napping.

Am I being over cautious or should I wait to move the baby until he’s 12 months or even older our room is extremely small and the cot takes up A LOT of space making it very hard to move in our bedroom however id obviously keep him in there if it was unsafe to move him.

Mine shared from the time the baby was 6 months and the older sibling had just turned 3. It has worked fine for us, the both settled great at bedtime and the couple of month when the baby still stirred in the night at times older DC wasn’t disturbed.
Never had an issue with DC putting things with the baby during the night, but I didn’t have concerns about that either so it wasn’t something I expected them to do.

I’ve wondered about this with our kids who also share a room but nothing has ever happened. Son had just turned four when his six month old sister moved in.

I wouldn't do it, for ME, the risk is too high. I have known older siblings to 'help the baby' covering with a blanket or giving them a cuddly toy etc. fortunately all in Moses baskets or bouncers near by, do spotted br caregivers. But in a cot at night?? It wouldn't have been.

id rather put up with the 'squash' in our bedroom got much longer.

i think they'll risk us too high, but even if it was very low risk, the consequences don't bare thinking about 😢
