One year old suddenly waking at night with wind

Hi. I wonder if anyone has any advice for my 13 month old. She has been waking in the night recently with what we suspect is trapped wind. She wakes and cries and won't settle so we pick her up but continues to wriggle around until she passes wind. Each time it will go on for about 2 hours as she has quite alot but doesn't pass it all at once. We put her down at least 3 or 4 times before she settles and stays down for a longer stretch.
She had a bit of colic etc as a newborn but I wouldn't say it's ever been an ongoing problem. She took a year to sleep through the night but not necessarily because of any issues, just took time to be able to. So we finally had a good few weeks of all sleeping better and now this has shaken things up again and I don't know what I've suddenly done wrong .
She generally eats well and I haven't changed anything or given her anything different. She still has two bottles of formula a day but has been having cows milk in porridge etc since she turned 12 months. We've had short phases of waking with wind before here and there but it was always much more quickly passed and she'd settle back down. This time has been more continuous for about a week now with the exception of one or two better nights. (Two nights ago she slept 11.5 hrs straight yet I can't think of anything different I did through the day/evening!) She was also sick at nursery yesterday morning within 30 mins of being there which seemed pretty random as she was completely fine in herself. But hasn't been since. She had loose stools a couple of days ago, and three in day which is unusual for her. But none today.
I've read teething can cause things like this but I can't be sure. Could it be a weird little bug? Do we start ditching the bottles? Stop giving formula? At what point do we seek medical help? I don't know what to try first. This evening it has started only one hour after she's gone to bed (it is usually after midnight) and DH is with her now after my three failed attempts so far to help her settle :/

I would try to simplify her diet for a while and see how things change.
Cows milk is often the culprit so maybe try goats milk instead.

Or eg oat milk for a few weeks. I wouldn’t do it indefinitely without dietary advice though because I don’t think it’s as nutritious.

If there’s no change in a few weeks: consider if she’s having too much fibre. Substitute a finer oatmeal/instant oats. Maybe reduce beans and lentils and any other notoriously gas-forming foods.

If that doesn’t change anything, eliminate eggs or gluten for a few weeks. Only change one thing at a time.

My money’s on the cows milk though.

Thanks for your advice. Is it possible she's developed an intolerance in the last few weeks then? She's been on cow & gate formula since birth and as I said cows milk with breakfast since 12m so it seems a very sudden problem. I assume with cows milk intolerance she would also react to her formula? We might also just stop offering that now anyway nutritionally she just doesn't need it, especially if it's causing a problem before bed

I would say that it’s not particularly likely but it’s not impossible.
As you say, teething can cause an upset tummy too, especially molars.

I just think it’s worth a try, to see if she settles better.
