Co-sleeping - fed up and want to stop!

I've co-slept with DD2 right from the start as it was just so much easier in the first few weeks. Now she's 15 weeks and I would really like to stop as it is keeping me awake!
I do have a bedside cot but the few times I've put her in it she's screamed her head off until I put her back in with me. Our bed just isn't big enough and I often find myself squashed up in the middle, I'm also getting a sore hip & shoulder as I always lie on the same side next to her. If I turn over she wakes up almost instantly.

Can anyone give me any practical tips for getting her into her cot as I'm not sure where to start.
I'm going to try putting things that smell of me in there but apart from that I've no idea.
DD1 always slept on her own with no problems so I'm fairly stuck.
Help!

Hi lucyand2. There's a book called no cry sleep solution (by Elizabeth Pantley) which has some ideas on the subject. Basically tho, when we did it I just kept on trying until eventually ds got used to the idea. It was a couple of weeks of hellish nights but then he was suddenly fine.

Things that smell of you are a good idea and definitely helped- still do some nights, even at 7mo.

Oh, also I took the side off the cot and pushed it right up next to the bed for a week or so, so it was a bit like a mattress extension- that was great as I had space and he felt close.

Good luck- it will be worth it in the end!

I co-slept with my DD until she was 12 weeks. That's when I introduced a dummy! She was also in the cot jammed right up against my side of the bed so in easy soothing distance. Hope it works out for you.

Thankyou for the ideas, I've got No cry sleep solution packed away somewhere (I'm moving house!) so I'll dig that out today.
I'll give a dummy a try too but the last time I tried she just seemed confused by it!
