Stopping breastfeeding but struggling to settle 12 month old to sleep

Hi all, I’m just looking for some advice please.

I have a 12 month old who has been breastfed to sleep until a few days ago. Dad has been putting him down to sleep every night and during wake ups with no issues, however this has been a struggle for me. I’m assuming DS has a feeding association with me and can still smell the milk. My partner works away so I’m now looking for ways to settle my toddler so he can get back to sleep without breastfeeding.

TIA

All you can do is offer cuddles and wait for the frustration and upset to end. Don't cave on feeding or you'll just prolong it. I'd keep getting dad to do as much as possible until he's away again. Best of luck.

Thanks for replying. This is exactly the kind of message I needed to see.

Thanks for the words of encouragement 😊

You've got this. Both of mine bed shared until around two years old but I stopped night boobing at around 13 months for each. It took a bit of time but I'd say within a few weeks they would settle with cuddles and strokes really quickly.

Just wanted to reply back after over two weeks. We are thriving and haven’t had any issues since maybe the first two days after stopping. Your words of encouragement definitely helped. Thanks again! :)
