What’s the interpretation of my terrifying recurring dream

Recently I’ve been waking in the middle of the night in a state of heart racing panic because I don’t know where the kids are (they are actually tucked up safely in bed). I wake up, jump out of bed and run to the hallway in absolute panic before snapping out of it and realising it’s a dream (or a nightmare). This has happened me at least 4 or 5 times in the past few weeks and I hate it Sad

I don't know about dream interpretation but a friend who is a very senior psychiatrist advised me that to prevent reoccurring nightmares I should write/tell/imagine a better ending to the story (it doesn't have to be a happy ending just has to be better than nightmare level). I believe the idea is to close the loop essentially. So for your dream you imagine the nightmare as it usually goes but then as you're starting to really panic your kids all jump out from behind the curtains & say boo! Tell them off for frightening you & hug them etc

Anyway it worked for me & I hope it works for you 💐

Do you physically get out of bed, and run out into the hallway? If so, this sounds like more like an adult night terror. Are you suffering from stress/anxiety at the moment?
