6 month old dropping morning nap

Appears my DD is dropping her morning nap. First awake window is about 5 hours then has a lunch and late afternoon nap after being awake 2-2.5 hours with about 3.5 until bed.

Shes resisting naps indoors - crying as soon as laid down - and only seems to be falling asleep in the pram, so may actually fall asleep if I took her out in the morning.

Anyone experienced similar?

I'd take her out in the pram around 9-10am and see if she'll at least have that nap a bit earlier, and then if she has a second one after lunch she'll be on a decent schedule if she has two naps.

Yea think I’ll have to try to rule it in/out.

Was trying to get away from pram naps as I was getting a rest whilst she was! Has been working for the past few weeks and then now in the past week she cries as soon as I try to settle her as if she isn’t tired, all whilst rubbing her eyes!

To be honest at that age my DC1 and DC2 almost exclusively napped in the pram in the mornings and overall probably about 75 per cent of their naps were in the pram! My DC3 is a similar age and currently goes down ok for a bed nap in the mornings but I also have morning school run to do 4-5 times a week in term time so he sleeps in the pram then anyway. I'd just take them out for a morning pram walk around the time you think they'd be roughly tired

She's too young to drop it. Use the pram, sling or car if you must

Well not sure what’s going off today, sleeping every 2-3 hours and feeding more than she has in weeks.

We ve had bouts of teeth rumbling, colds and isn’t there a growth spurt around this time?

With me back at work in a month, and with her going to nursery (who have nap super powers) and my mum (who’ll just push her around in the pram) I ll just treat everyday as if it’s a new day and follow her lead! 😆

6 months is too early for one nap. I think most babies are still on 3 naps at 6 months, with wake windows around 2-3 hours. My DC did the following at that age:

Wake up 7am
First nap 9am-10:30am
Second nap around 12:30-2pm
Third nap 4:30-5pm
Bedtime around 7:30-8pm

Obviously it varied day to day but this is what we aimed for.

Then slowly stretch the wake windows so that the third nap is dropped by around 8 months.

Ah sorry I just reread you post OP and realised she's doing 2 naps! I'd just persist with the morning nap, she will probably go back to 3 naps soon.

Neither of mine got the memo about the short first wake window and the 'morning nap'. Any 'morning nap' at that age occurred after 11am, not 9am – we had a roughly midday nap and afternoon nap, similar to your DD, although for us, wake windows were a bit more even. But if it works for DD, go with it.

My one concern would be that she might not sleep so well at night because of the shorter wake windows in the afternoon, so if that starts happening, perhaps try to nudge the first nap a bit earlier.

My baby dropped to 2 naps at 6 months and also has a long first wake window - so his long nap is in the morning and a shorter one in the afternoon. If that works for your baby, I'd go for it rather than trying to force them into another schedule.

A mix bag it seems! She’s definitely a low sleep needs baby, being pretty content at 12 hours a day. She’s just gone down for her first nap of the day in the pram. We went out about half 10 but with getting stopped around the village chatting to people, it might have kept her awake that bit longer.

To be honest my main stress is getting her to take a bottle in time for starting nursery so naps is definitely a thing I’m not going to fight at this point.
