Tummy sleeping 6mo

Hello,

My 6mo is going throught a bit of a sleep regression where he was waking up every hour, it seems to have stopped now but has been replaced with tummy sleeping/face down sleeping and I'm worried sick!

He can roll back to front and front to back and has been for a couple of weeks now, and he has good head control, but sometimes I find him face planting the mattress and everytime I try to roll him back onto his back, he wakes up and it takes between 20-60 mins to settle him back down.

I have the sense-u baby monitor clipped to his nappy (to monitor breathing as i have health anxiety) but sometimes stops working when hes on his tummy and I'm just worried sick with this being classed as unsafe sleep, I'm not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated x

Once babies can roll both ways, it’s considered safe for them to sleep in whatever position they find comfortable, including tummy sleeping, even though it’s still recommended to put babies to sleep on their back. But you can’t keep them sleeping on their backs. As your baby has good head control, he should be able to move his head away from the mattress if needed, even when face-down.

Back in the day even new Boris were put on their tummies. Your 6 month old will be fine.

It's quite common for this to start. They often sleep better once they choose to do this. Just ensure covers are well tucked in or they're in a good fitted sleeping bag

DS slept on his front from 5.5 months when he could get him self there and roll both ways. Completely normal for them to start preferring to sleep like this once they can get there. It's considered safe when they can roll both ways.
