Getting baby to sleep in own bed

I have a 6mo DS who has slept in his next to me since birth with no issues. Usually waking every 3 hours for a feed.

He's been ill recently and has slept in mine and dp bed for 2 nights. When we do this he sleeps for 11 hours straight through with only 1 wakeup for a feed. We've tried putting him in his own room but he will wake up after 2 hours and scream until he is put in his next to me or our bed. During the day he will only have contact naps or sleep in the car.

Does anyone have any tips on getting baby to sleep in his own bed?

God, personally I’d just have him in bed and take the long sleep! But sounds like you don’t want to do that?

He sleeps but I'm anxious about safe sleep so want to avoid as much as possible, and not sure if letting him sleep in our bed will make it more difficult when he's older

Exact same thing happened to us at 6m!
We ended up bed sharing until she turned one because it was so much easier and we all slept better.

When that changed and I was going back to work, we sleep trained into her own cot and room. Took a few days and now she sleep pretty well in there with minimal wake ups.

Don't worry about future proofing too much, do what works for you in the current day.
Some of my best memories are sleeping next to my baby - precious and can be done safely :)
