Is this normal??

Writing from the 4am trenches…

DS 4 moths and 1 week had his jabs three days ago. Prior to this was starting to become unsettled but has now turned into absolute sleep demon.
Nights 1&2 needed calpol for pain and fever. Now night 3 and no discernible pain/fever but Will. Not. Sleep.
He has gone from doing 4ish hour stretches and then 3ish hours overnight (so 2-3 wakes up which I am happy with at his age) to basically not going to sleep at all. I don’t think he is getting any deep sleep in he is so upset. Which is the worse bit because just not like him. Might get the odd chunter or grumble if overtired and waking frequently before. But now he is full on crying and won’t go back to ‘sleep’ until he deems he has been sufficiently rocked. And even then he has to sleep on us.

Is this normal? For a once happy and content baby who slept comparatively well, to being one who gets so distressed and cannot sleep even a quarter as well as he used to??

(for info, naps aren’t great but haven’t noticed major changes - normally 30-40 mins in next to me if at home but can do up to 2hrs if in car or out walking in pram).

I’m hoping you’re all going to come flooding in and tell me it’s just his jabs and he will go back to sleeping in his next to me tomorrow night! But also prepared to be told to brace myself for the long haul.

Yes it’s normal it’s the jabs it can take up to a week in my experience for them to go back to normal. However you are also at the age of a big sleep change aka the 4 month sleep regression which has been awful for all three of mine. Basically, it’s not linear and it changes all the time and just when you think you’ve cracked it they drop a nap or they’re teething or it’s Tuesday or whatever. Hang in there!

Yea unfortunately it is
as PP said google the 4 month sleep regression. It was not kind to us.
Keep repeating the mantra “it’s just a phase- this too shall pass” and look up some baby sleep consultant guides on Instagram for some tips..

Refreshing the post in the hope that someone will come along with the magic solution I have somehow overlooked…

And thank you @BigRenoLittleBudget & @TrínaCheile
Thoughts about whether it is vaccines or regression? Or just a winsome combination of the two. God help me.
