Baby not settling at 4am

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has any tips to help?

My baby is only 3 weeks old so know this is probably all very normal. She goes down around 10pm - 1am and then 1am til 4/5am but after the 4/5am feed, she takes well over an hour to settle and often cries. She looks tired as she’s yawning and her eyes drift off but then she’ll cry again. Could it be a build up of gas? Is there anything to help relieve it?

It's not the start of colic is it? Both of my children had that. Maybe look up the symptoms.

Mine was the same. He did solid 4-5 hour stretches as a newborn but they always ended at 4am on the dot. I still remember the 4ams on the playmat, it was so painful. He slowly started sleeping longer stretches, it sorted itself out around 10 weeks. From then on, he only woke for feed and cuddle and would go straight back down.

Is she getting too much day sleep/enough day sleep?
If you suspect gas you can do tummy massage and knees to chest and bicycle legs.
Are you BF to sleep, rocking etc?

Some babies have a more sensitive temperament. DS1 was up every 45-60mins all night from day 2 until he was 20months old.
Thenonly thing I was tolf to do is set a wake time and stick to it. E.g 7am. 7am is when curtains open and thenday starts. Before then keep wuiet, dark and act like it is night time. Nurse on playing etc.
Getting baby exposed to the sunrise and sunlight first thing well help adjust and mature the circadian clock for them.

In a few months / years it will seem like a distant memory.
