10month baby doesn’t sleep through the night - 3 naps!

im having such a hard time with my baby not sleeping through the night.
bedtime -7/7:30. Awake 1am, 2am, 4am, 5am. (Sometimes for an hour+)
He doesn’t go back down after 5am (sometimes 4am!).
because he’s up SO early, we have 14 hours of daytime to get through - so he’s STILL on 3 naps. He’s 10.5months old.
if he awakes at 4am, he’s EXHAUSTED by 6:30am and sleeps until 8am. He then sleeps 11-12, and 3-3:30 with a 7/7:30 bedtime if we can push him 4 hours. 3.5 hour wake seems to be his max before it’s the end of the world.
please help - sleep deprivation is kicking our asses.

Probably not what you want to hear but not all 10 month olds sleep through the night. Mine didn't until 15 months. Though I'm pretty sure he was only on 2 naps a day at that point. Maybe you need to try dropping a nap so he'll be more likely to stay asleep at night. Mine is a 5am waker still so I completely get it😅

One piece of advice I've found has always gone well for me is that you shouldn't be afraid of an early bedtime to fix early wakes. Especially when dropping a nap.

I'd start with a 5am day, and stretch out the first and second wake windows. See if you can get him napping more towards 9-11 and then 2-3.

And don't be afraid of a 6/6.30pm bedtime. It's just to help bridge the gap until the 3-2 nap transition is done.

I find water play really good for stretching out wake times.

We had this with my now 2 and half year old. He was a 5.30am riser with an early morning nap too for a while but suddenly the wake windows do start to stretch. Have a look at HuckleBerry website for wake windows. I'd say if you can really fight to get him back to sleep anytime before 5.30am, by 5.30am we use to say he's up for the day, but before I would feed him to sleep, rock him and it will help in the long run.

I would also say early bedtime. Sometimes if our son hasn't napped we put him to bed by 5.30/6pm, if he has napped hes in bed by 6.30pm, not asleep but happily chatting to himself. People think we are crazy but it really does work. He wakes 6.30am and has an owl clock that goes off at 6.45am, we introduced this at 18 months old and it's amazing. Unfortunately he will never be a 7.30am riser but that's ok.

I know sleep is so hard at this age, we have a 10 month old who is very unpredictable at night, but it is short lived. Sending love xx

That a seriously long day. If you worked out the wake time throughout the whole day, they are probably way overtired and causing the cycle.
I would try 2 naps with very early bed and hopefully it will balance out within a few days.

when we dropped to two naps at around 7 months, there were some really early nights.
