8 month old more tired than usual

Hey
My just turned 8 month old (first baby) is a brilliant sleeper, I would say definitely on the higher end of sleep needs. He dropped down to two naps about a month ago as the two naps that he does have are long ones. If one of them is shorter he will have three.
The past few weeks he isn’t managing much more than 1.5hrs awake before he gets fussy and tired. He will nap usually 1.5hrs first nap then second will be 1-1.5hrs. Last few weeks he has been doing more like 2-2.5hrs then another 1.5-2hrs and 12-13hrs overnight. The longer naps do not affect night sleep, if they did I would cap them. He is really alert when awake and plays but he is soooo sensitive to feeling tired and gets very fussy. Last night he slept 12.5hrs without waking then after 1hr 20 awake he started getting fussy which then turned into eye rubbing and yawning. Is it normal for them to sometimes not be able to manage as long awake? He isn’t crawling yet and also doesn’t have any teeth but is definitely teething although it seems to be on and off? He has started to sit independently recently.
Just to add, I know I am extremely lucky that he sleeps so well and I am not in the slightest bit complaining, I am just a bit worried about how much more sleep he seems to need, when he already sleeps long stretches anyway.
I know people would give up various limbs to have a baby that sleeps well, and I appreciate how lucky I am. I also don’t try to keep him up, I let him sleep when he needs to. He sleeps independently in his cot in his own room and it seems to be his favourite place at the moment!

they can often be more tired (and hungry) during a growth spurt. I would wait it out and see how long it seems to go on for. If it continues on and doesn't seem right maybe check in with a GP.

Hi there: I second what pp has said, but also colds/flu/viruses may affect them this way too. Wait it out and check with GP.
I want to add: you are the only person who is able to see your baby's subtle differences in behaviour, routine, etc that nobody else sees. So, trust yourself when noticing changes. I'm not saying they are necessarily alarming, but don't invalidate your instincts 👍
