Alternative to ear plugs for sleeping

I wear ear plugs to sleep each night (for the last 17 years)
and now I can’t sleep without them. I am very sensitive to noise, partner breathing etc

However I have permanent tinnitus and I believe it’s the ear plugs that has caused this. (I don’t ever listen to music in my ears, never really been to many clubs etc)

I need an alternative to earplugs. Are there any overear noise cancelling ear defenders that are comfy to sleep in? Every pair I’ve seen online don’t look very comfy to sleep in!

p.s any tips for the tinnitus? TIA

I use a snooze band but i play white noise through it, it wouldn't help if there was nothing being played through it. It's comfortable for me as side sleeper xx

The only thing I can think of is headband earphones.

Thank you for your reply. I’ve seen these. Would the noise be heard by a sleeping partner? I don’t want to disturb his sleep

Thank you. I might try this as a way to get me unhooked on the earplugs. I just don’t want to disturb my partner if the noise is loud on them

My partner can't hear it at all so I would say it shouldn't be a problem :)

I’ve had tinnitus for over 20 years now and I also use silicone ear plugs although I’ve only been using them for a couple of years now.

The ear plugs haven’t made my tinnitus any worse though.

Like most tinnitus sufferers, I wish there was a cure 😢

I paid £200 a few years ago for some proper fitted and moulded earplugs, like the kind that shooters and musicians wear. They completely blocked out the noise and were well worth the money for decent sleep. I think the chain shop I brought them from was called Audible, they also did hearing aids.

Everyone here has moved over to using Loop Earplugs. Much more comfortable and better at cancelling out noise. DH has tinnnitus and hasn't mentioned that they made that worse.
