17 month old girl napping twice a day

Hi, first post here! My 17 month old daughter is still wanting a morning nap and afternoon nap, but still goes to sleep by 8pm latest and gets up usually between 0630 and 0730. Her naps are normally around 2 hours long but sometimes 1 hour 30 mins. When she's at nursery twice a week she's able to manage just 1 nap and when her mum is home with her she has just 1 nap. She is fine with 1 nap but by bedtime she's completely knackered! My question is, if she's napping so well and still having a full night's sleep, is she actually ready to drop a nap? First nap used to be about 3 hours from waking up but has this last week or 2 gone to within an hour of waking up and the second nap is usually around 2pm.

Thanks in advance!

Why do you need her to drop a nap?

It's not that we need her to drop a nap, it's just as she's getting older her mum doesn't think she should have the two naps a day and that we should be getting her used to having the one. I'm just looking to see if anyone else's child at a similar age was still wanting the two naps and whether they 'trained' them to only have one or whether they kept with the two until baby made it clear they were ready for just one

Two naps a day at 17 months is fine, especially as she’s sleeping well at night.

Mine didn't drop a nap until he was 23 months old. Sounds like she sleeps better having had 2 naps so I'd stay at 2 for now. She'll drop it when she's ready

Although most would be on one nap by that age, not all would. I wouldn't worry at all and wait until you see the signs before you go for a nap drop!

DD1 was like that, and it was totally fine! If it starts affecting her nighttime sleep then worry about it then. But for now, she gets the sleep she needs, and you get peace. Double win.
