Bedtime routine

I've just changed my 19 month old to a toddler bed as he was just climbing out his cot all the time. It's been 2 nights and he's not fallen out of it and slept through but he's suddenly not going to sleep till 10ish. It had started to get later before the move to the bed. What I'm struggling with is bedtime routine. When he was in the cot we had a chair next to the cot that we would sit and give him his milk till he fell asleep and then placed him in the cot. With the bed the chair doesn't fit so this has been removed. So now it's a case of where do I give him his milk get him to sleep. It's still never new for him so he's excited at bed time. I gave him his milk in bed the last 2 nights but after it he just kept moving about thinking it was all a game. Any help would be appreciated

Are you brushing his teeth after the milk? It doesn't sound like you are and you should be. Do milk with stories in bed, brush his teeth, put him in bed, kiss, night night, leave the room.

Milk, teeth, stories in bed. At that age Dts were having milk downstairs in a cup then going upstairs.

Yeah if I got my little one up to brush his teeth after his bedtime bottle he'd be wide awake. Does your little one hold his bottle himself?

Yeah, unfortunately his dental hygiene is more important than the inconvenience of having to settle him after. Brush his teeth.

He shouldn't have a bottle with a teat at that age so don't understand how he's falling asleep with his milk. It's all a new phase so he'll get used to the idea of going to sleep on his own

Agree with the others I'm afraid you should be way past falling asleep on bottle or boob it's important to brush their teeth so use it as a god chance to do a new routine Smile milk from cup, brush teeth, snuggle and read stories?!
