Waking on leaning and putting down!

Trying to stop co sleeping and transition into a cot at 6 months,
Baby wakes up the minute I start to lean to put her in the cot, what can I do? I cuddle her against my chest as tight as I can and even if she doesn't wake then, she'll wake as soon as put down. I've tried the usual shushing, patting, rocking, placing hand on them, putting her on her side. It seems the leaning down motion wakes her up. Help please as I want to give up but really want to stop co sleeping

Arr you keeping head above feet until you lay the head down?

Thanks for replying, yes I do, but it seems she wakes before that regardless, as soon as I still bending/leaning down to place her in the cot is when she startlss and wakes up and then isn't settled by all the methods, only by nursing again :(

Can you make a safe space for co- sleeping, feed to sleep and then go back to your own bed? It worked for my 2. The 1st especially had absolutely epic sleep regressions, 6 months was grim (but not the worst). Once she dropped her naps she was sleeping through a good 10 hours, night weaning at 18 months made no difference at all to nigh wakings. (Now puberty has hit it's a whole different sleep ball game but at least she can entertherslf while the world sleeps most of the time).

You are better off starting by stopping the nursing to sleep.

Oh gosh, we had this too and I think I only managed by feeding back to sleep again and waiting longer to put him down so that he was in a really deep sleep, sometimes took a few goes. Wouldn't settle in the cot with any other method either. We just kept going and eventually he got there. Feel your pain though, it's so frustrating!

My first baby was like this. I used to feed lying down and slide her into the cot (lying on a muslin). My DH was better at moving her than me - ninja moves necessary! I also had the cot right next to the bed with the side off so was closer and easier. Could sometimes nestle her into the cot lying in my arms and then slowly remove arms 😂

Would have given anything for a magical laser beam device that gently moves the baby into the cot without waking them.

Second baby you can chuck her in the cot and she just rolls over and carries on sleeping 😴

I'm not sure how I'd make a safe space to co sleep in her nursery at it just consists of her cot, rocking chair and wardrobe in there currently

I wish! Her cot is just a average one and the side doesn't go down which makes it even harder 🤦

Every level feels like a https://spacewavesgame.org/ new challenge, yet the core gameplay stays the same. It's balanced and fun!

DD went through a phase very early on, where she'd wake if we let any of her limbs drop below the level of her body as we were putting her down. Our friends thought we'd lost our minds with all the fussing (gently lowering, the other parent carefully holding limbs up) but it was honestly the only way. You'll find something that works eventually (and then stops working when you got the next phase...). Good luck!
