Clock change HELL

Anyone else’s baby not yet understanding the clock change time?
Already is an early riser - between 5-6am and yesterday was 4:55 new time and despite keeping to normal times for naps and bedtime (so went to bed an hour later) he’s up at 4:15 today - didn’t even have 9 hours sleep overnight 😭

Yep🥲 my baby is 6 months old now, yesterday was 3:45 and this morning was 4am. Not even 6am yet and I’m 2 coffees in and we’ve got all the toys out, just waiting until its light enough to get her in the pram and out for a long walk because wow I am tired!

@Mrsttcno1 utterly exhausting. We’ve had months and months of early waking and only last 3-4 weeks have we seen some mornings at 6:30 which have been heavenly. He’s going to be so so tired to try and get him to anywhere near his normal nap time today 🥴

To be fair my daughter has always been a rubbish sleeper so I think I’ve just accepted this is my life now😂 have yourself a nice coffee and if you can get out on a walk in the fresh air, I always find that makes me feel a bit more awake! It's so hard isn't it! I read that if you expose yourself (and presumably) baby to early morning light (as in go outside first thing) you bring your body clock forward. Don't go out for early walks no matter how tempting it is.

So to move their body clock later, you should go out for a walk in the late afternoon/dusk and the light will push their sleep back.

That's the theory anyway!

For future clock changes we used to nudge their body clocks closer to the new time each day over a week, so all food (it was generally in half term), bath, bedtime was shifted ten minutes or so each day. Not that we had an absolute 'this is meal time' but I would consciously make sure we started working towards new time. The night before we would keep them up late.

Also try to work on making the room as dark as possible. Try to bump meals later. It does pass, as teens it is just me up! Good luck.

@Unexpecteddrivinginstructor i had every intention of doing this prior to the clock change but I had to wake him up by 3pm to pick my daughter up from school so bedtime had to be around 7pm still. It would’ve been soo nice if the clock change could’ve been at the end of half term lol.

Glad someone else is suffering! My DD 22m us an early waker. She was up at 4 this morning, managed to get her down til 5 but then she tantrummed and it's unbearable-

@GingerLiberalFeminist bless you. So tough, they’ve clearly just got their internal body clock and not sure why we are asking them to sleep more.
I’m keeping all his naps and bedtime at his usual times and hope soon he will adjust because I am knackered!!!!
