Hello all,
Have a nearly 15 week old DS who has never slept through the night but had managed to get the number of times he woke down to just twice.

the schedule used to go as follows:
last feed and sleep around 8.30-9pm
wakes for brief feed around 1-1.30
again around 4.30-5
up at 8am

the last few nights he has woken up a bit all over the place 11pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 5pm, 7pm.
Am breast feeding and he seems to want milk but falls asleep after just a few minutes of feeding.

In general he is getting about three 1hr naps during the day, but has of late become very irritable and off his feeds during the day. He is also dribbling profusely and sucking everything that comes in range.

Any advice/ideas/encouragement is welcome.

not the greatest news for you, but 4 months is a classic time for sleep to deteriorate - all to do with developments etc. as they go through changes, their little brain is busy processing it all at night. (it all started going wrong for us when DS learnt to touch his toes - one night we both woke up to see him holding his toes and gurgling away, which he did for 90mins!!! ) if he's only feeding for a really short amount of time, maybe try and settle him without a feed if you can - I always gave in with a quick BF as the easiest way to get him back off, but we've ended up with a demanding feed-to-sleep association, still at 14 mo...I'm working on it

sorry probably not the most helpful post, but just to say you're not alone and it's really common at this stage, so if you can nip it in the bud now, you might save yourself a lot more sleepless nights later down the line, good luck

thanks, managed to get waking and feeding down to 4 times last night by settling without feeding. He seems to be less restless when actually sleeping in arms, which is fine with me except that I wake to any tiny movement. Still we are going in the right direction with only 4 times awake!
