How do you put your one month old down in crib without starting them to an immediate awakening?!

There has to be a way!

For context, DS has never slept in his Snuzpod but we are trying to get him to accept going in it for a few mins.

But no matter how long he is asleep in our arms, as soon as we transfer him, his arms flail and he is wide awake.

Help!

That should say startling, of course

Keep your body as close to his for as long as possible while putting him down, so you're practically climbing in yourself. Put his body down before head. While you're removing your arm from under his head put your other hand on his chest gently. As soon as both hands free rock the crib gently and the movement helps keep them asleep.

This worked for us maybe 40% of the time 😬

Oh gosh, this brought back memories. Never had a problem with DC1 and 2, then DD came along and the second I put her down, no matter how carefully, the little arms would ping up and she'd be crying. I tried swaddling. I tried a swinging hammock (total waste of money)...
She grew out of it after a few months, but it was a long few months!

You could try swaddling or warming the cot (hot water bottle) before he goes in. Swaddling stops the 'eek' arm movement. Good luck!

I used a hammock for ds2 and it was brilliant! Was very in vogue when he was born (15 now)

The only way I could get mine down was at night had to contact nap during the day always woke up when put down I would wait 45 minutes to an hour at night after she fell asleep and then put her down she is 18 weeks now and I put her in awake now and gently rock her with my hand until she falls asleep. I'm following a sleep training course though by the end I'm hoping she will self settle .

I would hold dc arms into their body while laying them down and keeping firm weight of my arm on their chests/stomach. Then once they were in the cot I would v v slowly release the weight and arm hold. The trick for mine was to not let their bodies think they had been let go. I also used to use rolled up flannels / small blankets on the outsides of their arms to provide a sort of bulwark containment set up

I'm having the exact same problem at the moment! DC sleeps so contently during the day and will go down into his Snoozepod, but during the night from around 11pm-3am he is awake for most the time and only sleeps for short periods. Tried a swaddle bag, hot water bottle, white noise, red night light, blackout blinds, the lot!
Hoping it settles for us both very soon and that the babies start to know the difference between night and day sooner rather than later! ❤️

Can you try to decrease the occasions your DC falls asleep in your arms?

We put the mattress on us under our duvet for a bit before we put DD down so the mattress was warm and smelt like us.

It did help to an extent but she was never thrilled at being put down!
