19c room temp, 2.5tog?

Hi, I see many mumma’s popping their babs in 2.5 togs at 19c but I’m going by the dressing charts and it’s states long sleeve vest, sleepsuit and 1 tog! I get so confused and worried I would overheat my babe (4 months old) but equally don’t want her cold and she’s VERY figity at night currently!

Any advise?

I always understood that if babies are cold, they will cry and wake up. If they are too hot, they will not cry, which is why it becomes dangerous. I follow the babycentre infographic, which says 18-22c is short sleeved vest, sleepsuit and 1tog sleep sack, so with a long sleeved vest, I think you are fine. I only do 2.5tog when it's very cold.

The chart I've always used says

16c - 20c - 2.5 tog with short sleeved vest and sleep suit?

So that would be fine for 19c

My 5 month old is in a long sleeved vest and leggings with a 2.5 tog sleepbag and is fine, think our room is slightly cooler though

All the charts are different, I use tomee tippee as a rough guide which is 2.5 tog and long sleeve vest at 19c, then 1 tog and long sleeve vest at 20. But my thinner bag is a 1.5, so at 19 i would do that and a vest.

Colder is always safer so I would stick with what you're doing and just go with a thicker tog as temperature drops x

Does it stay 19⁰C all night?
Dress for the coldest temperature overnight

Thanks all, it’s now 17.2c in our room and tends to go up a tad when we get into bed.

so she’s currently dressed in short vest / sleep suit and I have the 2.5 tog ready.
so unhelpful when every chart is conflicting!
