Snuza for newborn

Hi all, looking for some advice. I bought a Snuza monitor in the hopes that it would alleviate some anxiety overnight. However, it seems that it only works if baby is lying flat on their back. Now I totally understand that’s the safest way for babies to sleep and I’m following this. But obviously parents of newborns are waking up several times a night to feed/change their baby etc.

Therefore, do I need to strip baby, detach the snuza (to avoid false alarms/readings), then feed, reattach the alarm and then dress them again before settling them down. This seems to be the case from the instructions I’ve read but I’m double checking on here as it seems wildly impractical and like a big defect of the product if it’s going to set off alarms when a baby has a cuddle or feed.

Can anyone who has used the Snuza before offer some advice?

Scrap the snuza and get an owlet smart sock. Not cheap but hands down the best "baby" product I bought. Still use it with 2.5 yo. Can tell when they're getting sick from their heart rate!

Owlet is £400 and the reviews are really mixed - some saying it doesn’t work, sounds false alarms, app breaks constantly and their customer service is absolutely crap. If it was highly rated I wouldn’t second guess it but most of the reviews are saying it’s okay at best.

What do you like about it?

Also considering the owlet and I’ll take the False alarmas over not having one!

Owlet all the way my 14 week old never goes to bed without it .

We use Snuza. Love it. It definitely has a knack to it though which you need to learn (clipping it on very well and avoid a loose nappy). Have used it since birth and baby is now 6 months old. She does move/flip herself but it stays on.

Did you buy the camera that comes with it as well for use later on when they’re in their own room or just the sock?

We used a Snuza Hero and it worked really well for us. We only removed and reattached when changing nappies and found that it was fine to leave it on for feeds and cuddles. As a previous poster has mentioned, you'll get the hang of attaching it so that it has good contact. We didn't have any false alarms and I found the little flashing light so reassuring.

I hadn’t heard of the Snuza and just looked at it, it does movement for breathing not sats or heart rate? I’m wondering if the owlet is better then for monitoring if sats drop when struggling before stopping breathing?
