2yo super long bedtimes and slapping

Is this normal? DC turns two soon and bedtimes are suddenly painful, going on for hours. DC rolls around, flailing their arms and has started hitting themself in the face repeatedly.

I feed DC to sleep, they are milk obsessed and I am now pregnant in my 2nd trimester. I think my milk is drying up, and wondered if that might be connected.

Might be time to give them a glass of milk before bed?

Won't drink regular milk, never has, sadly . I take a water bottle up at bedtime and they've started drinking quite a bit. But it's not really helped make things quickee

If you're in your second trimester it is likely your milk is drying up, you may need to replace this with something else like cuddling, stroking his head/back, reading a book etc.

It could also be that his sleep needs have reduced a bit and he needs a slightly later bedtime (i.e. closer to when he is actually going to sleep at the moment)

I really hope they don't need a 10pm bedtime 🫠 and yes think it might be pregnancy related.

Or a shorter nap! How long is his nap at present? My poor friend had a baby with such low sleep needs, he dropped his nap at 2. . . . Which is rare I believe. I suspect we will have to cut my little girls nap from 1.5 hours to an hour soon, she's 22 months and one or two signs are creeping in. We will try to hold out until she is 2. Wish i had one of those ones who sleeps 2.5 hours for a nap and 11.5 hours at night but we can only get 12 hours total out of our little one across 24 hours!

God I hope not. I need that nap! The average seems to be 90 mins ATM, but if at home he has been known to do three hours which is obviously going to lead to a later bedtime.

I've realised I'm struggling with feeding aversion, I think due to pregnancy hormones which is also not helping. So a 30 minute bedtime can feel like forever. I've ordered some magnesium to hopefully help as I would love for him to self wean ideally as he doesn't feed loads but does to sleep/nap.

I hear you, I dread cutting the nap, let alone dropping it completely. . . But we were experiencing really long bedtimes a few months ago so we cut the nap from 2.5 hours to 1.5 and it solved it, and I think we will have to cut it again soon. . . Wah! !
